Month: November 2013

Hello there! Tomorrow is THANKSGIVING! I am seriously so excited, I love Thanksgiving so much. I can’t wait to see my family AND my friends are all home from school! Today I am headed to lunch with my friends Elizabeth and Lauren. Lauren actually competed in Miss Massachusetts this weekend and did an incredible job. My first pageant experience was interesting but a lot of fun. I couldn’t help but envy the girls who are both confident and strong enough to compete in a beauty pageant! They were all in such amazing shape and so beautiful so naturally I got to feeling guilty about how lazy I have been lately. Oh well. Also, I realized if my blog is something you have read more than once you probably think I don’t get dressed up or wear real clothes. So this is what I wore on Saturday night for the preliminary competition.

I am standing like a man, I know. That never happen but obviously the one time I’m sharing a picture I look like a boy. Awesome.

I have to go get ready for lunch right now and then make some cupcakes. I should be posting again today and I will certainly let you know how the cupcakes come out. Pray for me.

Friday cheer.

The weather today is terrible. Dark, rainy, cold and an overall grossness. Therefore, I decided to brighten up the day by watching some Scandal after class. I just started and HIGHLY suggest it. Oh my lordy I wish I was Olivia Pope. She is a boss bitch. I can’t believe I just seriously said that, but it’s true. Anywho I have some coffee and some Scandal but I need to run off to nannying in about…. three minutes. Whoops! Just some fun things for today, I did my every day make up look before and after! However, I decided today that I need to return my Sephora CC cream. It looks really cakey up close and personal and I don’t like to look like I’m wearing face make up.

A few thoughts for Lululemon.

As a dancer and fitness lover, I just so happened to fall in love with Lululemon products. Lululemon, while overpriced, was a great quality brand for athletic gear. Upon making a purchase, I reminded myself that Lulu products would last longer than the rest- despite the wear or washes, I was guaranteed a solid chunk of time with quality clothing. Aside from the quality, Lululemon makes “fashionable” or good looking yet extremely functional work out attire. I realize that it can sound silly to some, but I still feel that when I look my best I always give more effort. Therefore, a No Limits Tank and some Wunder Unders from Lulu make for a more productive workout in my opinion. Call me crazy, it wouldn’t be the first time.

Recently, I have been less than pleased with the reviews I have read from Lulu and stayed away from their pants or crops. I have read that the pants have become sheer and are starting to pill at the thighs rather quickly. Definitely not matching up to the company’s quality criteria. Straight off the website– “lululemon’s assured quality level is the highest in the industry and it’s our job to ensure every product is made to its truest form.” Well, that hasn’t exactly been the case. Upon accusation of decreasing quality the CEO of the company made a comment that some women’s bodies may not be made for the product and the “pilling” is in direct correlation to thighs rubbing together and the pressure. First things first, I do not hate all of this. I absolutely think that certain body types are not cut out for spandex. I realize that opinion can come off harsh to some but it’s one in the same with bikini’s on the beach. Just because you can find one in your size, doesn’t mean you should wear it. With that being said, it is unrealistic to think that the majority of Lululemon’s customers have thighs that don’t touch. I think that if Lululemon’s market was just to size 0 girls, they wouldn’t be the corporation they are today. Actually, I would be willing to make a bet that Lululemon sells most of their clothing, pants especially, in the size range from 6-10. Suggesting the CEO, Chip Wilson, was referring to women needing a “thigh gap” to wear their clothing is a bit much but I also think in saying what he did he pissed off a lot of loyal customers.

Lululemon’s target market is to fitness enthusiasts. Most enthusiasts are all muscle, which makes it nearly impossible for their thighs to not touch- at least a little bit. What upsets me most is that Lululemon would blame their decreasing product quality on the body shape of a women. It’s called taking responsibility for the product and fixing the areas that need help.  This “thigh gap” concept is something that has been bothering me for a while. Size 0 is not healthy, muscle and being fit is. So while I don’t think Mr. Wilson was telling women they need a thigh gap I think he had no regard for the average womens body. I hope that Lululemon takes this opportunity to better their clothing and come up with a campaign about fit living. They have alienated many customers with these comments and need to find a way to get them back.

Again, this is just my opinion.  I can’t say that I will never purchase Lululemon again but it won’t be for a while. I would rather spend 15 dollars at TJ Max on yoga pants that I know will pill rather than risking 70+ on pants that still may. What’s your opinion on all of this chaos?

This post needs to come with a warning so here it is: this is a debate I have been having with myself and is especially strong right now. This post will undoubtedly be all over the place so bare with me.

I spent my morning going to class and then to the gym. I took a shower and washed my face using a mask as my skin has been giving me some trouble lately. The rest of my day I will be nannying and possibly hanging out with some friends after. My debate: To wear makeup or not? It is one of those days where I think make up would give me a little confidence and energy boost that I need. We can’t be expected to feel great about ourselves all of the time. However, I think that my skin may need the break and I also like to challenge myself on days like today, especially, to leave the house sans makeup. For me, it is important to make sure my friends know that they should always feel good about themselves despite what they may be wearing or their makeup. The problem comes into play when I am better at giving advice than taking it.

The counterpart to my debate is: What is wrong with putting a little extra effort into ones appearance daily? Obviously, getting ready for an event or a night out with friends requires make up and a cute outfit but why not just a little primping on a day to day basis or on days where you just need that extra dose of confidence. I guess it comes down to the day, and I think I sound kind of crazy here but I can’t decide which is the best policy.

I feel strongly that someone should be comfortable with the skin they’re in at all times. I also feel strongly that everyone should take proper care of themselves which means exercising, skin care and an effort in their appearance. However, I don’t think that comes down to a full face of makeup daily. Personality can outshine a smokey eye any day in my opinion.

Basically, I am torn. Do you have an opinion? Furthermore- can you tell me I’m not crazy?

Ideal Christmas list.

Well friends, Santa is coming. Just the other night my dad asked me to compile a small Christmas list keeping in mind that my he and Mom had already found two “pretty big gifts” for this year. Hold on, wait a minute..what? I haven’t asked for anything and am even more sure I haven’t hinted at wanting anything other than a trip to Aruba. As you can imagine, I have already started picturing myself on a beach and organizing my bathing suits in my head. Here’s to hoping Christmas morning isn’t a slight bummer when I don’t receive said trip.

Anyways- My Christmas list is as follows!

So I mean yes- I know this is kind of a mom jacket but when I am nannying I am kind of a mom. Do you have any idea how cold the playground was yesterday? So cold. North Face is my solution to keeping warm!

Hunters please. I mean this is New England, everyone needs some nice rain boots to wear with leggings and boot socks. I am not entirely sure which color I would like – any input? I am thinking with a long black jacket like the one pictured above, a bright color would be fun!

MAC’s Rebel lipstick. It’s official, I’m obsessed. A red lip will help me take over the world.

WEN! It’s kind of pricey but seems well worth it. I definitely wouldn’t mind a little Christmas morning hair care. If you haven’t heard much about the product- here is an awesome overview.

I’m not entirely sure what is going on but I can’t upload a picture of the Ray Ban’s I would like into this post. I am super frustrated but those finish out the list for the most part.

Asking for Christmas gifts is always kind of difficult for. It’s really important to me to give to those who are less fortunate. I love giving gifts to loved ones but am even happier to make someone, who otherwise may not receive much, smile.  I am certainly not expecting all of the items on my list and tend to feel guilty if I get too much. I love material items (duh) but waking up to a family and warm home on Christmas is the best gift. It’s hard to fathom, but some don’t even have that. Without a doubt- I am one very lucky gal.

What’s on your wish list this year?

Tuesday motivation.

Today, I am in desperate need of some motivation. I have been tired and lazy for the last few days and I am getting so frustrated with myself. In order to jump start my body and get my mind back on track I started this morning with a few yoga poses and strengthening exercises. The first was a simple sun salutation which I find is best for the morning stretch and waking up the body. If you are unfamiliar with this sequence I am attaching a video with a thorough explanation. Concentrate on your breathing and don’t think too much about the rest of your day.

Watch video here.

Next is an exercise best for the arms. It is supposed to be a better workout than dumbbells! Say what!? Toning my arms is definitely something I have needed to work on and I was so happy to stumble upon this video.  I mean come on, if I am going to be wearing pretty dresses every week I need to look toned and muscular in them.

Have an awesome Tuesday and do your best in whatever it is you’re doing today. 🙂

It’s Saturday! Do you know what that means? DREAM orientation. Yes.

First things first- I made it to the mall and home yesterday strictly purchasing what I intended to and nothing more. I believe I deserve a round of applause for that! ….Thank you.

I will be posting an outfit for tonight which includes my new make up and the amazing lipstick I bought from MAC. It is called “All Fired Up”- how appropriate for someone with as much energy as me. I feel that I should apologize right now because this post is all over the place. Just one of those days where I can’t hold a thought- too excited!

Moving on. This morning I had model orientation and I was able to take pictures in a gorgeous dress that Fallan picked out for me! Find her blog here– it has everything you could ever dream of and then some. Fantastic. I snuck a picture in the fitting room while I was changing. I’m not sure I was allowed to so it will be interesting to see what happens when Fallan sees this post. Hi lady! 🙂

This dress is going to sell quick I think. It is absolutely beautiful and I just can’t get enough.

Tonight- we have stylist orientation. If you have any questions about Dream or just want to say “hello” feel free to email my work email at

I have always wanted to say that and will be even more pleased if I actually receive emails. Anyway, my ADHD and I are going to get ready to head out. Here is my makeup and my new sweater from Old Navy! Please don’t make fun of my selfie- just trying to display my new makeup and how incredible my MAC prep and prime powder works. My makeup doesn’t go anywhere- it’s magic I think.

I’m so weird. Everyone have a fun and safe Saturday night!
